Expectations and Roles in the Classroom

Madrid has implemented the use of Language Assistants in the classroom for several years now. Each year expectations and goals grow higher to demand the growth and exploration of the English Language.

In my school I am utilized as a teacher due to the fact that I possess a Teaching Degree in the United States. My fellow co-teachers have utilized me in ways of collaboration and creating a successful classroom.

My daily timetable changes due to the demand and focus of students growth and necessities. I am to work 16 hours a week in my school in turn of a monthly stipend that supports my lifestyle here in Madrid. Most of my contact hours are associated with primary and second grade; where I lead routines and execute lessons dealing to Social Sciences, Life Sciences, and English. This is carried out to all grade levels where students are presented with the core subject in English Language and are also learning the subject matter in English. This allows students to learn the core material and gain the English vocabulary.

I also spend other contact hours with students across all grade levels providing additional support and lessons to help with their growth of English.

I also spend an hour of my week working with advanced and basic Adult learners in my school. We work on readings, pronunciation, and conversation topics. Each led by the needs of the educators and what they want to improve on for that week.

Overall I have a strong network of individuals that I work with allowing me to aide in their growth of English.
